A Travelodge spokesperson has issued an apology following a guest complaint at the group’s newly acquired hotel on Swindon’s Delta Business Park.
The property, formerly part of the Campanile chain, officially became a Travelodge on 29th April. The acquisition marks a new chapter for the site, though the transition has not been without teething problems.
Mr Moore, a recent guest, expressed dissatisfaction with his stay, citing a poor experience which prompted him to complain to the hotel group. In response, Travelodge offered a full refund and a complimentary stay as a gesture of goodwill.
A spokesperson for Travelodge said: “We would like to apologise to Mr Moore for his recent experience with us. On this occasion, we fell short of our usual high standards. This hotel was recently acquired from another brand, and we are currently in the process of refurbishing it in line with Travelodge’s quality and comfort standards. We apologise for any disruption this transition may have caused.
“In addition to the full refund we have already paid the customer, we have also offered a complimentary stay as a gesture of goodwill.”
The hotel is currently undergoing phased upgrades. New Travelodge beds, mattresses and bed linen are already being installed, with broader refurbishment plans set to commence in September. The aim is to bring the site fully in line with the brand’s modernised look and comfort standards.
In the meantime, the Delta Business Park location remains operational for business, with the company prioritising minimal disruption to guests during the transition. Travelodge has also flagged on its website that visitors may notice differences in the hotel’s offering until works are completed. This note can be found under the ‘important information’ section of the property’s listing.
The upgrade is part of Travelodge’s broader expansion and refurbishment strategy as it seeks to enhance its portfolio across the UK.
