Tisbury Fire Station to Hold CPR and Defibrillator Awareness Session

Tisbury Fire Station is set to host a free CPR and defibrillator awareness session, offering the local community vital life-saving knowledge. Organised by Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS), the two-hour session will take place on Saturday, 28th September at 10am, at the fire station on The Avenue.

The training will be led by a DWFRS casualty care trainer, with support from Tisbury firefighters, and aims to teach participants how to perform CPR and use a defibrillator, skills which can make all the difference in an emergency. With defibrillators now installed in numerous public locations, this session is designed to give attendees the confidence to act if they witness someone collapse.

Station Manager Brady Morris, who oversees Tisbury Fire Station, said: “With the rise in the number of defibrillators available in public spaces, it’s essential that people feel prepared to use them when the need arises. These sessions have been very well received across the region, and we look forward to welcoming residents to learn these potentially life-saving skills.”

In addition to the CPR training, participants will have the opportunity to tour the fire station and learn more about becoming an on-call firefighter. Tisbury Fire Station is looking to recruit local residents to join their team, and this event will offer insight into the role of a firefighter and the importance of protecting the community.

Morris added, “Tisbury firefighters play an essential role in keeping our community safe. This session not only helps raise awareness about CPR and defibrillators, but also offers a great opportunity for anyone interested in joining our on-call team to speak to the crew and learn more about the job.”

This session is open to all, and no prior experience is necessary. Anyone interested in attending can simply turn up on the day.
