Tesco’s Food Donation Bags Supporting Wiltshire Communities

Tesco is stepping up to make it convenient for shoppers in Wiltshire to lend a helping hand to food banks and charities providing crucial aid this summer.

The Marlborough Superstore, Salisbury Extra, and Amesbury Superstore are among the selected stores participating in the special six-week trial. They will be offering pre-filled donation bags for purchase, allowing customers to easily donate to FareShare and the Trussell Trust, two impactful charities supporting communities in need.

These thoughtfully packed donation bags contain essential items that are most needed by local food banks and charities. But Tesco’s support doesn’t stop there. Over the summer, customers will have the option to round up their bill at the checkout, providing further financial support to those in need.

Your Holiday Starts Now

You can find the donation bags in stores until Sunday 3rd September, alongside Tesco’s permanent collection points where long-life food items can be donated all year round. The rounding-up option at Wiltshire tills will be available to customers until 6th August and then again from 28th August to 3rd September.

Tesco’s Head of Community, Claire de Silva, expressed pride in the partnerships with FareShare and the Trussell Trust and stressed their commitment to finding ways to support these vital charities. As food banks face increasing demand due to the cost-of-living crisis and more families relying on their services during the summer holidays, Tesco’s donation bags are a timely and valuable initiative.

Polly Hoffman, Head of Retail at FareShare, acknowledged the rising need for food aid and expressed gratitude for the support from generous Tesco customers. The donations received are crucial in providing food to charities and community groups, helping them serve those in need.

Emma Revie, CEO at the Trussell Trust, also expressed gratitude to Tesco for their innovative ways of supporting food banks. The past year has seen record levels of demand, and donations play a pivotal role in ensuring that food banks can continue their mission of helping those who cannot afford essentials.
