Tesco have today removed 400g packs of Tesco Oriental Kitchen Chicken Chow Mein off its shelves and issued a warning to consumers due to incorrect allergen information in the packaging.
The recall stated: “We have been made aware by our supplier that due to a manufacturing error, Tesco Chicken Curry has been packaged in Tesco Oriental Kitchen Chicken Chow Mein packaging.
“The Chicken Curry contains milk, egg, mustard and sesame and, as such product packaged in Chow Mein packaging will have incorrect allergen information on the packaging.”
This error means the ready meals pose a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg, milk or milk constituents, mustard and sesame.
Tesco are now urging customers who purchased the takeaway product, which has an expiry date of March 2019, to return it to their nearest Tesco store for a full refund.
