Teenager remanded into youth detention after admitting Swindon stabbing

A 17-year-old boy has been remanded into youth detention after admitting to a serious stabbing at a Swindon skatepark.

The teenager, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He is due to be sentenced on 27 February.

The charges relate to an incident that took place earlier this week at a skatepark near the former Oasis Leisure Centre. During the incident, a 16-year-old boy was stabbed and remains in hospital receiving treatment for serious injuries.

Following the guilty plea, magistrates ordered that the defendant be held in youth detention ahead of sentencing.

Police have previously confirmed that no other suspects are being sought in connection with the incident.

Wiltshire Police continue to urge anyone who may have information linked to the events surrounding the stabbing to come forward, as enquiries remain ongoing.
