Swindon’s second Pickleball Festival has been hailed a huge success, attracting players from across the country to Delta Tennis Centre for a weekend of sport, sunshine and community spirit.
With participants travelling from as far afield as Belfast, the Isle of Man, and all over England and Wales, the event firmly placed Swindon on the map for one of the UK’s fastest-growing sports.
Held over two days, the festival brought together players of all ages and abilities to enjoy the fun, sociable nature of pickleball – a paddle sport combining elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. With no trophies or medals up for grabs, the focus remained on friendly competition and shared enjoyment.
Local flavour came courtesy of Gurt Wings, who served up delicious street food, and Hop Kettle Brewery, who kept players and spectators refreshed with craft drinks. The festival was supported by sponsors Quicksand and Swindon Travel Hub, both backing the sport’s growth within the town and further afield.
Festival organiser Shaun Jones, founder of Swindon Pickleball, said: “It was an absolutely fantastic weekend – the atmosphere was brilliant, the weather was on our side, and the feedback we’ve had has been overwhelming. We’re really proud of how far the sport has come in Swindon, and we’re already looking forward to the next one!”
Swindon Pickleball currently hosts two weekly social sessions on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7–9pm at Delta Tennis Centre. New players are always welcome, and all equipment is provided – making it a great way to try something new, stay active and meet others.
