The tranquil landscapes of Lydiard Park will come alive with the buzz of nature as Wiltshire Wildlife Trust hosts its first-ever ‘Country Comes to Town’ event in Swindon this May.
Scheduled for Saturday, 18th May, from 10 am to 4 pm, this free family-friendly affair promises a day of immersive experiences focused on nature and sustainable living.

Attendees can anticipate a delightful blend of interactive wildlife encounters and engaging activities, showcasing the Trust’s efforts towards landscape-scale nature recovery across Swindon and Wiltshire.
The event aims to shed light on the Trust’s conservation initiatives, from restoring diverse habitats to protecting threatened animal and plant species endemic to the region. Visitors can seek inspiration and guidance on wildlife-friendly gardening and sustainable living from knowledgeable experts on-site.
Exciting activities lined up for the day include the awe-inspiring birds of prey display by ‘Walk with Hawks,’ close encounters with grazing sheep sponsored by Ewe Move, craft sessions like flower crown making, whimsical animal face painting, a children’s swap shop, vibrant Morris dance performances, and more.
For those keen on a taste of rural life, Lydiard Turkeys will set up their one-stop farm shop, offering local and sustainable produce alongside a tractor display.
Kirstine Bowen, Marketing and Communications Manager for Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, expressed her enthusiasm for bringing the event to Swindon, emphasising its appeal as an educational and enjoyable outing for families.
“Country Comes to Town is an enjoyable, free day out for all the family, and we are thrilled to bring this event to Swindon for the very first time. Please do come along for what promises to be an educational and fun experience, whether you are coming from Swindon or further afield. We look forward to welcoming visitors of all ages and showing how we can make wild connections through some fun nature-based activities,” Bowen said.
