Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service Watch Manager Steve Field has been rightfully celebrated for his outstanding leadership in spearheading a complex project that streamlined staff training records and requirements.
The prestigious Making A Difference Award, sponsored by Airbus, was presented to Steve during his retirement ceremony just before Christmas at Westlea fire station, where he was surrounded by colleagues, friends, and family.
Group Manager Wayne Presley, Head of Operational Training, had the honor of presenting the award. In his commendation, Presley expressed his pleasure in acknowledging Steve’s remarkable experience and dedication, saying that it played a pivotal role in the successful delivery of the intricate project. The outcome was an accurate recording of staff training and competencies across the entire workforce.
The Making A Difference Award holds significant importance as it recognises individuals who go above and beyond the expected, ensuring the success of a cause or project while innovatively navigating challenges.
Commenting on Steve’s achievement, a spokesperson for Airbus remarked, “It was a pleasure to have been a Gold Sponsor of the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service Making a Difference Award. These awards are important, as they recognise those who go beyond what is expected of them to ensure that a cause or project is successful, whilst also finding new ways of working when facing challenges.”
The spokesperson continued, “In this project, Steve went beyond what was expected of him to ensure that it was a success, whilst representing those affected by it. From all of us here at Airbus, a massive congratulations to Steve Field for his exemplary contribution.”
