Swindon Town have this evening announced the addition of forward Aaron Drinan to the squad from Leyton Orient. The deal, which is a permanent contract, is currently pending approval from the EFL.
The 25-year-old Irish talent embarked on his professional journey in his home country, showcasing his skills at Cork City and Waterford. Drinan played a pivotal role in Waterford’s triumph in the League of Ireland First Division, marking an impressive start to his senior football career. His prowess on the field caught the attention of Ipswich, leading to his transfer in 2018.
Drinan’s time at Portman Road was marked by four impactful loan spells and international experience with the Republic of Ireland’s U21 team, where he represented his country in seven matches at that level. The breakthrough into Ipswich’s first team occurred during the 2020-21 season in League One.
Amassing 22 first-team appearances for the Tractor Boys, Drinan made a lasting impact before securing a permanent move to Leyton Orient. The Irishman showcased his goal-scoring prowess, netting an impressive 16 goals in 44 games during his debut season.
In the current season, Drinan has continued to shine, making 15 appearances for Orient.
