Swindon Town Strengthen Core Squad as More Key Players Commit Their Futures

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s announcement that defender Joel McGregor has committed his future to Swindon Town until 2027, The Swindonian understands that the club has now successfully concluded contract negotiations with three further senior players.

New deals have been agreed with striker Paul Glatzel, goalkeeper Connor Ripley, and forward Aaron Drinan, giving the Robins a much-needed boost ahead of the 2025–26 season.

The renewed commitment from Glatzel, Ripley, and Drinan ensures that head coach Ian Holloway will head into the summer with a stronger, more settled foundation than in previous seasons.

These new signings add to a growing list of contracted players, which includes:

  • Tunmise Sobowale
  • Ryan Delaney
  • Will Wright (believed to be close to agreeing extended terms)
  • Ollie Clarke
  • Harry Smith (reportedly has extended his contract)
  • Gavin Kilkenny
  • Danny Butterworth
  • Harrison Minturn
  • Joel McGregor
  • Billy Kirkman
  • Jaxon Brown
  • Sonny Hart
  • Redman Evans
  • Dylan Mitchell

This solid base — made up of a mix of seasoned professionals and promising younger players — gives Swindon Town a far more stable outlook as they prepare for the new League Two campaign.

With just Ofoborh’s contract situation to be resolved and Harry Smith and Will Wright reportedly close to agreeing terms, it’s a refreshing sign of continuity at SN1 — something the club has arguably lacked in recent years.

Fans will now be watching closely to see which areas Holloway and his recruitment team target as they look to build on this core and challenge for a far stronger finish next season.
