As reported earlier this week, Swindon Town have confirmed the arrival of experienced striker Ollie Palmer on a two-year contract, subject to the usual EFL approval.
The 33-year-old forward, standing at an imposing 6ft 5in, makes the switch to the County Ground following a strong spell with Wrexham, where he played a pivotal role in their promotion push and contributed with crucial goals across his time at the Racecourse Ground.
Palmer’s career has spanned more than a decade and over 500 senior appearances. During that time, he has turned out for the likes of Mansfield Town, Leyton Orient, Lincoln City, Crawley Town, AFC Wimbledon, and most recently Wrexham. Known for his physical presence, aerial ability, and knack for bringing teammates into play, Palmer has been a regular menace for opposition defenders wherever he has gone.
Speaking on his move to Swindon, Palmer shared his enthusiasm for the challenge ahead: “I’m really excited to sign for a club of Swindon’s stature. The ambition here is clear, and I want to play my part in helping the team push up the table and compete for promotion. I’m looking forward to meeting the lads, working with the Manager, and getting started in front of the fans at the County Ground.”
He added that discussions with the Manager were key to his decision: “When I spoke with the Manager, his vision for the club really stood out. The way Swindon finished last season shows what this team is capable of, and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
Palmer becomes Swindon’s thirteenth summer signing and will wear the number 28 shirt for the season ahead. Supporters will be eager to see whether his experience and presence up top can provide the spark to help the Robins mount a serious promotion challenge.
