In a heartwarming display of community spirit, supporters of Swindon Town Football Club have come together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children residing at Jenni’s House, Swindon’s refuge for those escaping domestic abuse.
STFC extended a warm invitation to staff and volunteers from Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service (SDASS) to attend home matches, providing an opportunity to raise funds for a worthy cause. Throughout the season, the generosity of fans has seen over £1600 dropped into fundraising buckets, paving the way for impactful Easter activities for the 26 children currently sheltered at the refuge.

Jo Eamey, CEO of SDASS, talked about the importance of creating a nurturing environment for families seeking refuge. “Ensuring a sense of normalcy is paramount for families residing in the refuge,” she explained. “As the Easter holidays approach and children are off school, our aim is to offer a variety of activities to foster a sense of belonging and create cherished memories.”
Eamey elaborated on the planned Easter festivities, including craft workshops, an egg hunt, tombola, and a shared picnic, alongside a special outing to a local activity centre. These initiatives, made possible by the generous donations from STFC supporters, are designed to uplift spirits and provide moments of joy for families navigating challenging circumstances.
“The dedicated efforts of our team aim to cultivate a welcoming and supportive environment for our families,” Eamey added. “These donations enable us to enhance our offerings, ensuring that the time spent at the refuge is remembered as a positive chapter in their lives.”
