Swindon Town confirm goalkeeper Lewis Ward has the club

Swindon Town Football Club has this afternoon confirmed the news that was circulating at the weekend, the departure of goalkeeper Lewis Ward.

If the rumours are to be believed, any why wouldn’t they, Charlton are looking to complete a deal to take Ward to The Valley, on what would be a permanent deal.

The 26-year-old, who rejoined the club in August last year, has decided to part ways, ending both his tenure as a player and as the Youth Development Phase Lead Coach within the club’s academy.

During his second stint at the club, Ward showcased his goalkeeping skills in eight appearances across both league fixtures and the EFL Trophy. A notable highlight was his crucial last-minute penalty save against Forest Green in December.

In addition to his goalkeeping duties, Ward assumed the role of Youth Development Phase Lead Coach, contributing to the development of young talents. However, with his departure, this coaching position will now be taken over by former player Danny Rose, whose insights into the new role will be explored in an upcoming discussion.

Ward’s on-field presence has been limited to a mere eight appearances across various competitions for Swindon since his return. A notable highlight was his crucial last-minute penalty save against Forest Green in December.
