Swindon Town Announces Departure of Manager Michael Flynn and Assistant Wayne Hatswell

Swindon Town has officially parted ways with first-team manager Michael Flynn and assistant Wayne Hatswell, effective immediately.

In an atmosphere of mutual understanding, Michael Flynn and the club’s owner have reached an agreement leading to his immediate departure from the managerial role.

Reflecting on the decision, Michael stated, “I want to express my gratitude to the owner for the opportunity to lead this esteemed Football Club. My best wishes go to everyone connected with the club, especially the fans, for their future endeavors.”

The football club extends sincere appreciation to Michael and Wayne for their unwavering commitment and hard work throughout their tenure with Swindon Town, conveying heartfelt wishes for their future pursuits.

Taking charge on an interim head coach basis is Gavin Gunning. Head of Football Jamie Russell will continue to oversee football operations alongside Gavin, forming a new coaching team.

Chairman Clem Morfuni acknowledged Michael’s contributions since his appointment, stating, “I extend my thanks to Michael and Wayne for their contributions during their time with the club. Best wishes to them in their future endeavors. I have confidence that Gavin can lead a successful campaign for the remainder of the 2023/24 season, starting with Saturday’s game against Tranmere.”

Morfuni expressed optimism in the continued support of the first team and the newly structured coaching staff, aiming to foster a positive and successful environment across Swindon Town Football Club.
