Students from Abbey Park, Orchid Vale, and Highworth Warneford schools have helped spread the cheer of Christmas by once again supporting the Swindon Christmas Toy Appeal. Their efforts saw a minibus full of donated gifts destined for local families in need.
Organised by a number of churches across Swindon, the annual appeal aims to bring festive cheer to children who might otherwise go without during the holiday season. On 5th December, a group of eleven Year 8 students joined forces with Dawn Prosser from the Bible Society to sort the donations into age-specific categories.

Alexandra O’Brien, an English Teacher and the Toy Appeal coordinator at Abbey Park School, praised the students for their hard work: “Our students were exceptional; they worked extremely hard sorting toys into specific age categories for different areas of Swindon and did so with lots of enthusiasm, wearing Christmas jumpers and huge smiles! They were the epitome of what we call ‘Abbey Park School Proud’, receiving special credits for their efforts.”
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of Swindon residents, including contributions from the schools, this year’s appeal will bring joy to 750 children. Families in need are nominated by local agencies, churches, and schools, ensuring the gifts reach those who need them most.
