Old Town is set to become the beating heart of street art this September, as OINK Gallery unveils one of its boldest exhibitions yet.
Inner City Dreamers will bring together some of the UK’s leading urban and contemporary artists, showcasing new work that blends raw creativity with Swindon’s own growing reputation as a canvas for modern art.
The line-up is nothing short of stellar. Mul, whose work has already caught the eye of Guinness, Red Bull and Ant & Dec’s Cash for Kids campaign, will be joined by Prefab77, KMG, Penfold and Sweet Toof – each a heavyweight in Britain’s street art scene. Between them, they’ll bring original works and rare limited prints, ensuring collectors and casual visitors alike have plenty to discover.
The exhibition opens on Friday 5th September and promises more than framed work on walls. Across the opening weekend, the artists will spill into the streets of Old Town with live painting sessions, leaving their mark on Swindon’s urban landscape. Adding to the buzz, local DJs will spin sets at the gallery on both Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 September, creating a lively blend of art, music and community spirit.
One of the weekend’s highlights will be Penfold’s transformation of a Swindog sculpture – a blank figure left from 2023’s Big Dog Art Trail – into a permanent piece for Old Town. Backed by Domino’s, Los Gatos, Charles Harding and Deacons, and purchased by the Old Town Business Association, the sculpture will stand as a new landmark celebrating the town’s creative energy.
Gallery founder Mark Pepperall describes the project as more than just another exhibition. “It’s about connecting Old Town to Swindon’s wider art story and leaving something lasting for the community,” he said. That sentiment was echoed by Kris Talikowski, Chair of the Old Town Business Association, who praised the gallery for building a genuine audience for contemporary art in the town.
Since its launch nine years ago, OINK Gallery has steadily built a reputation as a hub for street and modern art in Swindon. With Inner City Dreamers, it now looks set to deliver one of its most ambitious and memorable exhibitions to date.
