The TaxPayers’ Alliance (TPA) presents the tenth ‘Town Hall Rich List’ a comprehensive list with a council by council breakdown of council employees whose remuneration exceeds £100,000.
The latest findings for 2015-16 show at least 2,314 council employees throughout the UK received total remuneration in excess of £100,000, an increase of 89 from the previous year.
Of those employees 539 received a total remuneration package in excess of £150,000, an increase of 53.
The records for Swindon show that there are seven employees receiving over £100,000 in salary and three of these receiving more than £150,000.
Swindon Borough Council’s three listings in the report are Chief Executives John Gilbert and Gavin Jones both picking up a bigger salary than the UK Prime Minister at £171,282 and £151,782 in comparison the UK Prime Minister is reportedly to pick up £142,500.
The third listing in the report, also paid more than the PM was for the Board Director Service Delivery position and was paid at £162,253.
With much publicised council tax increases these figures are likely to anger local residents.
