Swing Birds Set to Soar Again at High Sheriff’s Concert for Domestic Abuse Charity

One of Swindon’s most anticipated annual events is making its return this spring – and it’s bringing rhythm, heart, and purpose to the heart of Old Town.

The High Sheriff’s Concert will take place on Saturday, 17th May from 7.30pm at Christ Church, promising an evening of music, community spirit, and fundraising for Society Without Abuse – the town’s established charity committed to tackling domestic abuse through education and early intervention.

This year’s concert will be hosted by Wiltshire’s newly appointed High Sheriff, Martin Nye, who said he was proud to support such a meaningful cause.

Back by popular demand, Swindon’s very own all-female swing band Swing Birds will be headlining once again. Known for their high-energy performances, soulful harmonies, and ability to fill the aisles with dancing feet, the Swing Birds are fast becoming a staple of Swindon’s cultural scene. Their return is expected to draw a lively and generous crowd.

Speaking ahead of the event, organiser and former High Sheriff Nicky Alberry DL said: “This concert is always such a joyful occasion. The Swing Birds have a special ability to get people smiling, moving, and feeling connected – which is exactly what this cause is all about. Society Without Abuse does crucial work locally, and it’s only through community-led support that this work can continue.”

Tickets for the concert are priced at just £10, or for £20 guests can enjoy access to a post-show reception, complete with drinks and a light buffet – a relaxed setting to socialise while contributing further to the charity’s ongoing efforts.

High Sheriff Martin Nye added:

“It’s an honour to host this year’s concert. Supporting Society Without Abuse means helping create a safer and more compassionate community for all. I’d encourage everyone to come along – it’ll be a fantastic evening.”

Funds raised on the night will go directly towards the charity’s work across Swindon and the surrounding area, providing support to those affected by domestic abuse and delivering early intervention programmes in schools and communities.
