Swindon Open Studios Launches Pop-Up Gallery at The Designer Outlet

Art enthusiasts and visitors alike were treated to a visual feast as the Swindon Open Studios Pop-Up Gallery debuted at The Designer Outlet last Saturday.

Showcasing original artworks and ceramics thoughtfully curated by the artists themselves, the gallery’s opening was met with delight from attendees. But hurry if you want to check it out – the Pop-Up Gallery will only be gracing the space for one week, finishing up on Sunday, 18th February.

This initiative marks a new venture for the Swindon Open Studios community group, renowned for its annual event held during the final two weeks of September. The temporary exhibition space, nestled between M & S and Clarks, offers a unique opportunity for visitors to engage directly with the featured artists, who are present in the shop daily.

The launch event on Saturday evening drew a crowd of invited guests, including Labour candidate for South Swindon, Heidi Alexander. Expressing her admiration for the gallery, Alexander remarked, “What an honour it is to be here for this launch, because it is fantastic and the work is beautiful.”

February’s Pop-Up Gallery showcases the work of six artists, selected from the talented pool of participants in the 2023 Swindon Open Studios event. Featuring five painters and a ceramicist, each artist brings a distinct style and perspective to the exhibition.

Among the featured artists are Sheryll Fox, Charlotte Abraham, Sholeh Jafari, Helen Savin, Andi Theokle, and Mary Thorne. For further details about the artists and their work, interested individuals can visit the Open Studios website at www.swindonopenstudios.org.

Looking ahead, this year’s Swindon Open Studios event will see artists opening their studios to the public over the weekends of 21st/22nd and 28th/29th September 2024. Artists keen to participate or visitors seeking more information are encouraged to sign up for the newsletter on the website’s homepage.
