Swindon man Neil Scott is being caught up in the middle of fix claims in the series finale of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
Killjoys from the national press are claiming the show was fixed after all series long, contestants in the shows final of the Win the Ads were told ‘we must take your first answer’ and would lose the long list of prizes should they get the last answer wrong.
Neil, a window cleaner who used to attend Hreod Parkway was asked by Dec “in which hand the Statue of Liberty held her torch.”
After answering “I’m going to say left, I haven’t got a clue” there were groans in the live audience with Ant quickly following up “You’re going to say what?”
Neil then quickly, and cleverly changed his answer “Right. I’m going to say right.”
The crowd were cheering the win before Ant was heard on the live broadcast saying “I’m not finishing the series on a loser, believe me.”
After winning the ads including a luxury holiday to Mexico, a new £20,000 Vauxhall Mokka and a home makeover viewers took to Twitter disappointed that Neil was allowed to win after several contestants throughout the series didn’t have the luxury of a second guess at the answer.
The Swindonian wish to congratulate Neil on winning an amazing competition on a light-hearted Saturday evening entertainment show. Maybe he was lucky to win given he did clearly give the wrong answer to start with but come on, that would not have been the magical Disney ending for the series.
