Summer at the Bowl Returns to Town Gardens: Music, Laughter and Live Theatre Under the Stars

The much-loved Summer at the Bowl season has returned to the heart of Old Town, with a packed programme of live entertainment bringing community spirit and open-air performance back to Swindon’s historic Town Gardens Bowl.

Kicking off last Sunday with Comedy at the Bowl, this year’s season, organised by South Swindon Parish Council, promises something for all tastes and ages, from family-friendly concerts to Shakespearean classics, and even a tribute to pop royalty.

The atmospheric venue, nestled amongst the trees of the Town Gardens, sets the scene for a summer of alfresco arts, with a number of unique shows lined up between now and the end of August.

Your Holiday Starts Now

Among the highlights is Music for Miniatures: Under the Sea on 8th June at 11am – a fun and interactive morning concert designed to spark the imagination of little ones and parents alike. For something a bit quirky, Bin Rat arrives on 12th July, offering up a theatrical experience that blends humour with poignancy in an unexpected setting.

Fans of Shakespeare can enjoy the bard’s brilliance on 7th August with Twelfth Night, while history lovers will appreciate The Most Perilous Comedie of Elizabeth I on 1st August.

Live music lovers won’t be disappointed either. Tribute acts Fearlessly Taylor (15th August) and Supersonic Queen (22nd August) will bring familiar anthems to life as the Bowl turns into a festival-style evening stage. And on 30 August, the season rounds off with On Thin Ice, promising a gripping finale to a memorable summer.

Performances are spread across the day, with a mixture of morning, afternoon, and evening times to suit all routines. All events take place at the Town Gardens Bowl – a hidden gem of Swindon’s cultural landscape – providing a unique and accessible outdoor setting for arts and entertainment.
