Swindon’s Prime Youth Theatre is set to transform an empty retail unit in The Brunel Shopping Centre into a pop-up theatre space as they unveil their latest production, Grow Up, on 12th and 13th February 2025.
The show, created entirely by young members of Prime Youth Theatre, takes audiences on a journey through key moments in life – all with a unique, computer-game-inspired twist. Performed in the round, spectators will be fully immersed in the action, surrounding the cast from all angles. The production will also feature an impressive blend of lighting, sound, and projection to bring the experience to life in a way rarely seen outside of traditional theatre spaces.

Mark Powell, CEO and Artistic Director of Prime Theatre, spoke about the significance of the venue and the project: “Grow Up is the latest of Prime’s shows led by young artists. The Brunel Centre opening this brilliant unit just for us proves what communities can do when they work together. This is a real coup for Swindon audiences.”
Every element of Grow Up – from the storyline to the costumes – has been developed by the young people of Prime Youth Theatre, ensuring a truly original performance. Erin Fletcher, Co-Director and former Youth Theatre member, is proud of what they have created: “Grow Up is such a special show because of the people who have been at the heart of its creation. It has been amazing to shape the performance with the young people and watch their creativity and brilliance throughout the project.”
The production is part of the wider national Grow Up! project, developed alongside Beyond Face, Company Three, and Mortal Fools – a group of youth theatres across the UK who have each crafted their own versions of the show.
For those looking for a fresh and exciting take on the challenges and triumphs of growing up, this is a production not to be missed.
