The new 12-sided £1 coin has entered into circulation today, and although it may take a couple of days for you to see one in your change there is good news for the motorists in Swindon.
After running the story about Tesco having to leave their trolleys unlocked as they have not yet changed the mechanism to accept the new coin we can confirm that parking meters throughout the Borough of Swindon (run by the council) have all been changed to accept the new coin.
At a cost of just £7,000 the change was made in plenty of time for today’s launch ensuring no matter what £1 coin you have you can use the machines.
Well done Swindon Borough Council, it makes you wonder how a company the size of Tesco could just forget?
