The Mayor of Swindon, Kevin Parry took swapped his mayoral chain of office for a high viz as he took to the streets this morning to assist the household waste team in picking up the towns rubbish.
Due to staff shortages Cllr Parry was more than happy to volunteer to help, despite this mean a 6.30am start after finishing his shift heaped praise on the team.
“They are a great bunch of guys who do a good job” he said.
He does have one request for Swindonians, one which will help the efficiency of the household waste teams, and that is to separate our recycling.
“If everyone could please separate their waste in to each box that would really make a big difference.
“Separating three different types of waste in one box is time consuming for the team and does slow them down.”
