Swindon Man’s Appeal Dismissed After Failing to Provide Drug Sample

A Swindon man who refused to provide a blood sample for drug analysis following two separate arrests has had his appeal thrown out by the courts.

Bradley Warren, 32, of Haig Close, was initially found guilty in June 2023 at Swindon Magistrates’ Court after failing to provide a sample on two separate occasions. Despite his claims of a needle phobia, his appeal was dismissed at Swindon Crown Court on 13th February 2025, as he had no medical diagnosis to support his claim.

Warren had been stopped and arrested for suspected drug driving in Swindon in October and November 2023 but refused to comply with officers’ requests for a blood sample for analysis. His refusal led to charges of failing to provide, resulting in a 16-month driving disqualification. The conviction was upheld in court, and Warren was ordered to pay £1,300 in legal costs.

Roads Policing officer Craig Beales welcomed the decision, stating: “Warren was arrested twice in just six weeks on suspicion of drug driving and refused to provide a blood sample for analysis.

“I’m pleased the court has dismissed his appeal and that Warren is now banned from the roads. Drug driving is one of the fatal five offences, and we will always look to pursue dangerous offenders who put themselves and others at risk by getting behind the wheel while under the influence.”
