Swindon man sentenced for drug offence

A Swindon man has been sentenced after admitting to possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

Ian Waithaka (18), originally from Faringdon Road, pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to an eight month suspended prison sentence, as well as 250 hours voluntary work and 15 days of rehabilitation at Swindon Crown Court on Friday 23 March 2018.

Waithaka was stopped by PC Paul Bezzant in Swindon town centre in April 2017 after the officer smelt cannabis on him.  Waithaka resisted a search and ran off,  PC Bezzant gave chase and caught and arrested him.
