Swindon’s Local Policing Tasking Teams (LPTT) have made significant strides over the past month, culminating in numerous arrests and charges.
Established formally in July, Swindon and County LPTTs aim to strengthen local policing efforts, with a specific focus on priority offenders, high-harm crimes, and high-risk suspects.
The teams have been instrumental in the fight against drug-related crime, employing proactive patrols throughout Swindon’s communities and responding swiftly to intelligence gathered both locally and within the department. This sustained effort has led to several critical arrests and charges, targeting high-impact offences including grievous bodily harm with intent, drug-related offences, and dangerous driving. Among those charged is a man linked to multiple shoplifting incidents, some of which had been outstanding cases.
Detective Constable Will Saunders, of the Swindon LPTT, expressed appreciation for the role of community intelligence in helping guide the team’s efforts. “Community intelligence is absolutely vital in our day-to-day operations. It enables us to identify key areas of concern and focus our resources effectively,” said DC Saunders.
“If there’s anything troubling you in your area, please don’t hesitate to call 101 to report it. Our commitment to creating safer public spaces and reducing violence in Swindon remains unwavering.”
The LPTT’s ongoing initiatives, which include both uniformed and undercover patrols, have reinforced a sense of security within local communities while actively working to meet the Force’s objectives of violence reduction and safer public spaces.
As the team continues to address Swindon’s most pressing issues, residents are encouraged to play an active role in reporting suspicious or concerning activities, enabling the LPTT to maintain their momentum in driving positive change.
