The Swindon Lions Club has launched its first-ever Virtual 5K Run, inviting people across Swindon and beyond to get active while raising money for local community projects.
Running throughout 2026, the event allows participants to complete a 5K distance at any point between January and December, choosing when, where and how they take part. Whether running, jogging or walking, supporters can log their 5K in their own time, making the challenge accessible to everyone — from experienced runners to families and casual walkers.
The virtual format means participants can take part safely and flexibly, regardless of location or schedule, while still contributing to the Lions Club’s charitable work in the town.
Lion Shane Reed, of Swindon Lions Club, said the event was designed to bring people together for a good cause.
“Our Virtual 5K Run is a brilliant way to unite the community in support of local causes,” he said. “We’re really pleased to see people getting involved, sharing their achievements and helping us make a real difference here in Swindon.”
Money raised through the challenge will go towards a range of local projects, including youth programmes, community wellbeing initiatives and other charitable causes supported by the club. The run reflects the Lions Club’s ongoing commitment to improving quality of life across the area.
Participants can sign up via findarace.com, share their progress on social media and help spread the word to encourage others to get involved. Full details about the run, along with information on upcoming events and volunteering opportunities, can be found on the Swindon Lions Club website.
