Swindon Lions have been organising a spectacular fireworks evening at The Polo Ground in Old Town for the past 50 years.
This annual event, attended by thousands, is not only a night of community fun but also a significant fundraising opportunity for the Lions to support local charities and organisations.

Last month, Swindon Town FC legend John Trollope, in partnership with Swindon Lions Vice President Peter Kennewell, presented cheques of £500 to 16 deserving community groups at The Community Centre at Christ Church.
John said “I’ve always known Swindon has a warm heart and it’s been a lovely evening chatting to people who make a real difference to the town”.
Among the recipients were Prospect Hospice, Julia’s House Hospice, Jessie May Hospice at Home, Dressibility, Swindon Food Collective, Tiny but Mighty, Open Door, Wiltshire Treehouse, Swindon Lionesses Girls Football Teams, TWIGS, Headway, CALM, NSPCC Swindon branch, Army Cadets, Air Cadets, and Sea Cadets.
Hannah Clinch from Julia’s House expressed her gratitude to the Lions saying: “Your donation is so gratefully received and allows us to continue providing much-needed respite care for seriously ill children and their families.”
Swindon Lions Vice President Peter Kennewell said “It was a privilege and a pleasure, on behalf of Swindon Lions, to hand over cheques of £500 to many amazing community groups that work hard to make Swindon a better place to live. This evening’s event confirms that our annual firework display is a classic win/win/win.”
The Swindon Lions’ firework display will this year take place on Saturday, 2nd November.

If you’re a business or individual looking to support this amazing community event, the Lions would be delighted to hear from you.
Whether you’re interested in sponsoring the evening or helping as a steward, your contribution will make a difference. You can contact the Swindon Lions by emailing contact@swindonlions.org
