A group of five friends from Swindon and Poole has raised more than £3,000 for Prospect Hospice after completing the Frankfurt Marathon.
United by personal losses, Jecinta Noble, Sarah, Amanda, Della, and Susie took on the gruelling challenge to honour the memory of loved ones cared for by the hospice.

The team included Susie, who ran the full marathon in an impressive 3 hours and 3 minutes, while the remaining four formed a relay team, crossing the finish line in 3 hours and 56 minutes. Despite sore legs and blistered feet, the group felt every step was worth it to support the hospice’s vital services.
Jecinta Noble reflected on her motivation for the challenge, saying: “The care my mum received in her last days was phenomenal. The team at Prospect supported her and our family with such compassion – nothing was too much for them. Running the marathon was our way of giving back and helping other families receive the same incredible support.”
Susie, an experienced runner, shared her pride in setting a personal best: “This was my 12th marathon, and I’m thrilled to have beaten my previous time. We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of our friends and family, and we’re so pleased the money will make a real difference to the hospice.”
Jane Farmery, from the Prospect Hospice Inpatient Unit, expressed the charity’s gratitude: “This is an amazing achievement. Our team felt privileged to care for Jecinta’s mum, Carole, and support Sarah’s dad, Steve, during difficult times. Donations like this are essential, especially as the hospice faces a funding crisis. This incredible contribution could fund 14 night sits, ensuring families can rest knowing their loved ones are in safe hands.”
Prospect Hospice has been at the heart of the Swindon community for decades, providing palliative care and support to patients and their families. With increasing demands on its services, fundraising efforts like this marathon are critical to maintaining its ability to offer care free of charge.
