In the wake of a substantial surge in divorce applications in the UK, Divorce-Online has conducted an in-depth analysis, spotlighting the towns and cities grappling with the highest rates of marital dissolution in 2023.

Last year saw a notable increase in divorce applications, reaching 116,000 in 2022—a surge of 7,800 compared to 2021, marking the most significant uptick in over a decade.

However, the digital age has ushered in a new wave of addictive behaviours, including excessive gaming, online shopping, virtual reality engagements, and an overreliance on digital devices. Each presents unique challenges to maintaining healthy relationships,” Keenan noted.

In an effort to identify the divorce hotspots, Divorce-Online revisited their data, revealing Swindon as a significant player among the top 10 towns for divorces in 2023. This places Swindon alongside other notable locations such as Alfreton, Epping, and Newark, showcasing the town’s prominence in this year’s divorce statistics.
