Drivers in Swindon considering the move to electric motoring are being given an early opportunity to get behind the wheel of Volvo’s latest fully electric model.
Waylands Volvo Swindon, on Great Western Way, is holding an exclusive preview event from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 August, giving local motorists the chance to test drive the new Volvo EX60.
The SUV was recently named the UK’s most exciting upcoming new car at the What Car? Awards, just a day after its global unveiling.
The EX60 P12 AWD Electric model combines Volvo’s familiar Scandinavian design with the latest electric technology and is claimed to offer the longest range of any Volvo so far, with up to 503 miles on a single charge.
It also features ultra-fast charging, with the battery capable of going from 10 to 80 per cent in as little as 16 minutes under the specified charging conditions.
Inside, the EX60 has a spacious premium cabin, with a dashboard-mounted speaker and four interior options using a mixture of renewable and recycled materials.
The preview event is intended to be more than a quick spin around the block. Visitors will be offered personalised test drives with a Volvo Specialist, who will demonstrate some of the car’s technology in real-world conditions.
That includes the 360-degree camera, intelligent parking sensors and Volvo’s latest driver assistance systems. Customers will also be able to see how the vehicle’s 800-volt fast-charging system works at a nearby public charging point.
There will also be an opportunity to try Google Gemini, with visitors able to ask the system for personalised recommendations, from local restaurants to scenic drives and places to visit.
Peter Tubb, General Manager at Waylands Volvo Swindon, said the event was designed to give potential buyers a better understanding of what the new electric SUV can offer.
“We’re delighted to welcome local drivers for an exclusive first look at the new Volvo EX60 here in Swindon,” he said.
“This weekend long event is designed to be much more than a standard test drive, giving customers the chance to experience the technology that makes the EX60 so special.”
The EX60 is now available to order, with prices starting from £56,860.
