Swindon Dementia Action Alliance (SDAA) is celebrating its 10th anniversary by hosting two events during Dementia Action Week from May 13th to May 19th, 2024.
The first event, set for Monday, May 13th, will be a jubilant celebration of SDAA’s decade-long journey. Held at the Grange Leisure Centre, this special occasion promises an uplifting party for individuals living with dementia and their families. Tickets for this heartwarming gathering can be secured in advance starting from Monday, April 8th, through the following link: citizenticket.com/events/darkroom-theatre-company/daa-10-year-birthday/.
Following this joyous kickoff, SDAA will host an information Expo-style event on Thursday, May 16th, generously hosted by Zurich in Swindon.
To accommodate varying schedules, two sessions will be available, including a twilight session for those who may be occupied during the day. All members of the community are encouraged to attend and explore the diverse range of stands, providing a safe space to inquire and learn more. Additionally, Dementia Awareness sessions will be held at 3.30pm and 5.30pm.
Cat Attewell, the Community Engagement Officer at Home Instead Swindon and Deputy Chair for SDAA, has played a pivotal role in organising these events. Reflecting on their significance, she remarked, “These are really exciting local events, demonstrating that our community is dedicated to helping raise awareness about dementia and helping those whose lives are affected by the disease.
“We thought it was fitting to enable those in our local community who might need support, to learn more about the illness and understand the wealth of facilities available to them or their loved ones throughout Swindon. There is so much help available that so few know about.”
