The UK’s biggest parenting reviews site, MadeForMums, has awarded Swindon-based children’s author Kate Claxton, the prestigious GOLD AWARD in the preschool category for her book “My Mum’s a Tiger.”
MadeForMums announced their 2023 awards after more than 3,000 hours of judging the individual entries, in categories such as prams and pushchairs, nursery equipment, and also toys and games.
Commenting on why Kate Claxton was awarded GOLD, MadeForMums said: ‘Our testers loved this positive, empowering book that helps to introduce your children to body positivity at an early age with one tester stated, “I absolutely loved the diversity in this book.”
‘It also proved to be great communication tool, enabling our testers to start conversations with their little ones about how everyone is different.’
Delighted with her award Kate Claxton reacted on social media “As an independent publisher, to be considered and shortlisted alongside hugely established publishers and authors I idolise feels incredible.
“To take gold is…swear words.” (she didn’t actually swear)
Final words on the award go to one of the parent testers, Jodie, who tested this with their 3 year old who said: “I love the unique aspect of the story.
“I like how it teaches children to be comfortable in their own bodies and encourages mothers to talk about their own stretch marks and normalises them.”
