People working in the not-for-profit health and care sector across Swindon are being encouraged to put themselves forward for national recognition, with entries to the Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards now open and completely free.
The awards recognise individuals and organisations making a difference in their communities, from small groups supporting older people and those experiencing homelessness to larger organisations including hospices and care providers.
Anyone working in the not-for-profit care sector can enter themselves or nominate someone else, regardless of their position within an organisation or the type of support they provide.
There are 13 award categories, including a new category recognising work in mental health support.
The awards are produced by Care Management Matters (CMM) in partnership with the National Care Forum, which provides advice and support to the not-for-profit care sector.
Organisers say the awards are intended to highlight the dedication, innovation and impact of people working across a sector which can often go unrecognised.
Nominations are open until 13 November.
Simon Johnston, Marketing Director – UK, at headline sponsor Markel, said: “Behind every thriving community are people and organisations working tirelessly to make a difference.
“From supporting those who need it most to bringing people together and creating lasting change, the not-for-profit sector plays a vital role across the UK.
“Now, we want to celebrate the incredible work happening in Swindon. We’re looking for inspiring individuals and organisations whose dedication is making a genuine difference in their communities to give them the recognition they deserve.”
The awards are open to a wide range of people working in the sector, meaning nominations can recognise frontline care workers, volunteers, community organisations, managers and other people whose work has made a difference.
Lisa Werthmann, Director at Care Management Matters, encouraged people across the sector to nominate colleagues as well as recognising their own contribution.
“Creating and bringing the Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards to life has been an immense privilege,” she said.
“It is a special occasion that brings the sector together to recognise the dedication, compassion and achievements of those who make such a difference every day.”
She added: “I’d encourage everyone across the sector to get involved by nominating someone who deserves to be celebrated. And don’t forget to acknowledge your own contribution too – the work you do matters.”
The awards bring together people from across health and social care to share examples of work being carried out in communities around the UK.
With nominations free to enter, organisers are urging Swindon-based care workers, volunteers and organisations not to leave it until the deadline to put forward someone they believe deserves recognition.
