A team of 15 employees from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Swindon braved the mud and muck of the Swindon Pretty Muddy 5k, raising substantial funds for Cancer Research UK.
The event, held at Lydiard Park, is part of Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life series, dedicated to supporting the charity’s life-saving work.
The Amazon team tackled the 3.1-mile course, which featured a range of obstacles such as inflatables, cargo nets, and wrecking balls. Their efforts went beyond just getting muddy; they also contributed £1,615 to Cancer Research UK’s local branch, further supporting the fight against cancer.
David Tindal, General Manager at Amazon in Swindon, spoke about the event: “We’re a fun group here at Amazon, and our participation in the Pretty Muddy 5k demonstrates that we’re willing to get our hands dirty for a good cause. Cancer Research UK is doing invaluable work, and we’re proud to support them through both our participation and our donation.”
Lindsey Rampling, one of the participating Amazon employees, shared her enthusiasm: “It was a blast getting down and dirty with the team for such an important cause. The course was challenging, but the experience was worth every muddy step.”
Alison Birkett from Cancer Research UK in the South West expressed gratitude: “A huge thank you to the Amazon team in Swindon for their incredible support. With nearly one in two people affected by cancer, initiatives like these are crucial. The funds raised and the awareness generated will help us work towards a world where cancer is no longer a fear.”
