Swindon Town Football Club continues to extend its steadfast hand of support towards the local community by forging an impactful partnership with the Culvery Court hostel and Dean McMackin, Travel Counsellor.
Building upon the success of last season’s collaboration, Swindon Town, together with support from local businesses Moovahome, Swindon Loft Conversions, 147 Sports Club, and Waynes Drains, is set to reignite a meaningful initiative aimed at making a difference in the lives of those in need.
These local businesses have rallied together, contributing funds to relaunch the project which will see all surplus matchday food from the County Ground channelled towards Culvery Court, Swindon Caring Hearts, and The Alternative Angels. These invaluable local groups are dedicated to directly assisting individuals who find themselves navigating the challenges of homelessness.
On top of this, a new initiative has been launched that will give supporters an opportunity to help each time they visit the club’s kiosks, bars, lounges, the club shop at the County Ground and even when making purchases online, the “Make A Difference” token. With a contribution of just £1, supporters can play an active role in bringing about positive change within the community.
At the end of each month, the total funds collected from the purchase of the “Make A Difference” tokens will be used to purchase the everyday essentials for the 3 groups that rely solely on donations.
Dean McMackin, Travel Counsellor, shared his heartfelt perspective, “Having worked closely with the 3 different groups it became apparent that the biggest needs the guys have is what we take for granted, food and toiletries and obviously sanitary products for the females who find themselves struggling.
“I had seen something similar in Bristol and approached Clem and Rob who were very keen to make this work and after lots of back and forth with both Paul and Caroline who have been amazing.
“We have managed to work out a way we think we can make a big difference to the Culvery Court, Swindon Caring Hearts, and The Alternative Angels who are working every day based just on volunteers so if every fan who entered the County Ground donated just £1 a month that would keep them going.”
As Swindon Town Football Club renews its commitment to fostering positive change within the community, the Make A Difference token initiative becomes a tangible embodiment of unity, empathy, and empowerment. Together, we have the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of those who need it most.
