Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has relieved Home Secretary Suella Braverman of her duties this morning, the second time in her career by two different Prime Ministers.
This decision follows her sharp criticism of the Metropolitan Police’s management of a pro-Palestinian protest scheduled for Armistice Day. Against the Prime Minister’s wishes, Braverman took matters into her own hands by publishing a scathing article, accusing the police of bias, without obtaining prior approval from Downing Street.
A No 10 source said the Prime Minister “asked Suella Braverman to leave Government and she has accepted”.
The Conservatives said Mr Sunak is carrying out a wider reshuffle which “strengthens his team in Government to deliver long-term decisions for a brighter future”.
In a pre-march editorial for The Times, ahead of a pro-Gaza ceasefire demonstration on Armistice Day, Braverman accused the police of neglecting “pro-Palestinian mobs,” even when they blatantly violate the law.
#Braverman sacked twice by two different PMs.
One got beaten by a lettuce 🥬 and the other grips on becoming more and more unpopular by the day.

Despite submitting the article to Downing Street, it did not receive approval due to requested significant alterations. Nevertheless, Braverman decided to publish it independently, prompting Downing Street to disown the content.
The Prime Minister’s official spokesman clarified, “The content was not agreed by No 10.”
