Westonbirt, The National Arboretum, is inviting families to immerse themselves in the magical world of Stick Man as he returns for a new adventure trail in 2025. Based on the well-loved picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, this year-long trail promises to be a treat for young explorers.
From February 2025 through to January 2026, families can follow Stick Man’s journey through the beautiful forest as they embark on a trail filled with nine interactive activity panels and six spotter panels. Along the way, children will have the chance to engage in fun activities such as building with sticks and learning about the forest’s wildlife, birds, and nests.

Holly Firks-Matthews, Visitor Attraction Manager at Forestry England, spoke about the excitement surrounding the trail: “We’re delighted to welcome Stick Man back to our forest for what promises to be an exciting year of family adventures. These trails offer the perfect blend of storytelling and outdoor exploration, helping children connect with nature in a fun and memorable way.”

To add an extra touch of magic, families can purchase an activity pack for just £4. The pack contains materials to create their very own Stick Man, as well as a special passport system. As families progress through the trail, young adventurers can collect stamps in their passports, making the experience both educational and rewarding. This interactive approach encourages children to explore the full length of the trail while learning about the natural world in an engaging way.
The Stick Man trail is part of a longstanding collaboration between Forestry England and Magic Light Pictures, a partnership that has brought characters from Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s books to life in outdoor settings since 2014. It’s the perfect way to inspire a love for nature while creating lasting memories with loved ones.
