Starlight Walk Returns to Illuminate Swindon Streets in Support of Prospect Hospice

The eagerly awaited Starlight Walk, Prospect Hospice’s flagship fundraising event, is set to light up the streets of Swindon once again.

Scheduled for Saturday, 29th June, this event promises an evening filled with fun, friendship, and philanthropy as participants don their best fancy dress and glowsticks to walk either 10km or 15km, raising vital funds for the local charity.

Prospect Hospice, which provides specialist end-of-life care, has seen a growing demand for its services in Swindon and surrounding areas. Last year, the hospice supported over 2,000 patients and their families. However, despite the increasing need, government funding has not kept pace, leaving the charity facing a £1 million shortfall this year. This financial strain threatens the hospice’s ability to provide essential support to those in need.

“We rely on our compassionate community of supporters for 75% of our funding. It’s no exaggeration to say Prospect Hospice only exists because of you and your generosity,” said Jeremy Lune, CEO at Prospect Hospice.

“Your support means local people receive the outstanding care and comfort they deserve at the end of their lives, and their families are supported during the hardest of times.”

Currently, although the hospice has the capacity to care for 12 patients at its Wroughton facility, financial constraints mean it can only accommodate six at a time. More funds are urgently needed to meet the rising costs of providing specialist end-of-life care both at the hospice and in patients’ homes.

The Starlight Walk offers an opportunity for the community to come together and make a meaningful difference. By participating, volunteering, or sponsoring walkers, supporters can help bridge the gap between the hospice’s growing demand and its available resources.

Whether you’re walking solo, with friends and family, or as part of a team, there is a place for everyone at the Starlight Walk.
