Special Friends’ Events Coming to Lydiard Park This November

This November, Friends of Lydiard Park will host two engaging events at the picturesque Lydiard Park, inviting the community to delve into the park’s rich history and literature.

The first event, Cakes and Tales, will take place on 6th November 2024 at 2:30pm in Hook Village Hall, Swindon (SN4 8EA). Attendees will have the unique opportunity to explore The Lydiard Archives for free while sharing their personal memories of Lydiard Park and the Parish of Lydiard Tregoze.

Archivists will be on hand to assist participants in digitising their treasured photographs, letters, and other materials, ensuring that local history is preserved for future generations. Donations towards the homemade afternoon tea will be warmly welcomed. Those interested in attending are encouraged to inform Julie at secretary@friendsoflydiardpark.org.uk to ensure ample refreshments are prepared.

The second event, Author Talk, Lunch, and Book Signing, is scheduled for 20th November 2024 from 12:00 to 2:00pm at the Lydiard Park Hotel and Conference Centre.

This event features bestselling author Elizabeth St. John, who will present her latest historical fiction novel, The King’s Intelligencer. Participants will be transported back to 17th-century Lydiard Park, where they will meet the family intelligencers and uncover the mystery of the missing Princes in the Tower.

Tickets are priced at £20, which includes a light lunch and refreshments, while Friends of Lydiard Park can secure tickets for £18. Tickets can be purchased online at We Got Tickets.

Both events promise to be enjoyable occasions for anyone keen to learn more about the local heritage and literature while connecting with fellow community members.
