Exciting developments are underway in Swindon’s education landscape as two more schools, The Deanery Academy in Wichelstowe and the Kingfisher primary school and nursery, prepare to integrate into The Park Academies Trust (TPAT) this September.
The Park Academies Trust, already responsible for six schools and a 6th Form centre, emerged as the Department for Education’s preferred choice due to its proven track record in school development and nurturing a strong sense of community.
Over the course of nearly six months, the transfer process has been meticulously orchestrated in collaboration with the Department for Education and its Regional Director for the South West, ensuring a seamless transition for students, families, and staff alike.
James Nicholson, Interim CEO of The Park Academies Trust, expressed delight in welcoming the Deanery and Kingfisher into the trust’s fold, saying “We are delighted to welcome the Deanery and Kingfisher as the latest schools to join our Trust and we are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for pupils, families and staff. We are a Trust with a proud sense of community and family at the heart of our ethos and we know we can grow stronger together. We look forward to extending the support and resources which benefit all of our schools to the Deanery and Kingfisher as well.”
Stephen Mitchell, CEO of The Diocese of Bristol Academies Trust, echoed this sentiment, underlining the importance of prioritising the well-being and growth of students and communities served by the Deanery and Kingfisher schools. “It is important to us all at the Diocese of Bristol Academies Trust that the Deanery and Kingfisher schools both continue their journeys to grow and flourish, within a Trust that will do the best for the pupils and the community that the schools serve,” he said.

Kelly Osborne-James, Interim Headteacher at the Deanery CE Academy, expressed gratitude for the support received so far and excitement for the opportunities ahead as the school embarks on a journey of rapid improvement within TPAT.
Sharon Bishop, Headteacher of Kingfisher CE Academy, echoed the sentiment, expressing pride in the school’s achievements since its establishment in September 2021 and anticipation for the collaborative efforts ahead with The Park Academies Trust.
