Scott Media Champions Solopreneurs for Third Year at Prestigious Women’s Awards

Swindon-based PR agency Scott Media is once again backing the Best Businesswomen Awards, proudly continuing its support for female entrepreneurs who are running the show solo.

For the third consecutive year, Fiona Scott, founder and Managing Director of Scott Media, is sponsoring the Best Solopreneur category – a section of the awards that celebrates women business owners operating without partners or employees, often overlooked by traditional business accolades.

Speaking about her ongoing support for the category, Fiona said:

“I’m proud to sponsor this award again because it shines a light on women running micro-businesses alone. They’re frequently dismissed as freelancers or hobbyists, when in fact they are committed professionals building brilliant businesses on their own terms. These women deserve every bit of recognition.”

A seasoned journalist and PR consultant, Fiona has worked with dozens of solopreneurs through Scott Media and says she is consistently impressed by their creativity, resilience, and ability to adapt.

“Many of our clients at Scott Media are solopreneurs. I see the dedication they pour into their work every day. They are strategic, resourceful and often juggling multiple roles at once – from marketing to operations and everything in between.”

The Best Businesswomen Awards were established in 2015 by entrepreneur Debbie Gilbert and are widely regarded as a major fixture in the UK’s business calendar. Covering a broad spectrum of industries, the awards are designed to spotlight and celebrate female-led success stories.

Debbie Gilbert said:

“Solopreneurs are the backbone of the UK’s entrepreneurial landscape, yet they’re so often missed out in traditional award categories. We’re grateful to Fiona and Scott Media for recognising the importance of championing these inspiring women.”

The Best Solopreneur category is open to women running sole-trader businesses (not limited companies or partnerships) and is industry inclusive – whether it’s baking, bookkeeping or branding.

Fiona added:

“Entering awards isn’t just about winning. It’s an excellent form of visibility, a confidence boost and often a reminder of just how far you’ve come. Supporting these awards is my way of giving back and championing the remarkable women I see every day.”

Entries for the 2025 awards close on 10th June, with finalists announced in July and the grand final taking place in Daventry on 10th October.
