After more than two decades since he started his first stint with the company, marathon-running medical sales expert Max Richards has returned to Vygon UK’s Swindon headquarters – a place he fondly refers to as “home soil.”
Max originally joined Vygon in 2003 as a fresh-faced sales executive. Over the years, he progressed through the ranks to become Business Development Manager, before setting off on a new professional path seven years ago. Now, with a wealth of international experience under his belt, he’s back in Swindon as National Sales Manager for Neonatal and Anaesthesia products.
Vygon UK, a trusted manufacturer of medical devices, has long served NHS customers with innovative solutions tailored to neonatal, paediatric, and anaesthesiology care. Max’s return is not only a welcome reunion for colleagues but a strategic move that brings specialist knowledge back into the fold.
Speaking on his return, Max shared his enthusiasm: “It’s brilliant to be back. The culture at Vygon is exactly how I remember – collaborative, supportive, and genuinely driven to make a difference. I’m particularly proud to be representing our Nutrisafe2 enteral feeding systems, designed specifically for neonatal babies. These products stand head and shoulders above others in the market.”
With survival rates for premature babies improving year on year, Max notes the growing need for technology that supports increasingly fragile patients. Vygon’s investment over five decades in specialist neonatal care has made it a name synonymous with quality and reliability – something Max is determined to champion further.
But his focus doesn’t end there. Max is equally keen to promote Vygon’s Total Intravenous Anaesthesia (TIVA) Sets. Designed for safer, smoother patient recovery, these kits are equipped with kink-resistant armoured tubing, minimal dead space, and multi-lumen design from hub to tip – features that collectively support better outcomes for patients and clinicians alike.
Keen to grow the company’s reach, Max is actively building a targeted sales team across the UK, with recruitment for new roles in both the North and South currently under way.
“Vygon has always placed patient care at the heart of its operations. It’s the sort of company that listens – to customers and to staff – and that sort of culture makes it a great place to work. I’m ready to help take us to the next level,” he added.
Away from his professional role, Max is equally driven. He recently completed the 2025 London Marathon and a gruelling 53km run across the Cotswolds in scorching heat.
The Cirencester-based fitness enthusiast says endurance running mirrors his professional ethos: “I enjoy pushing myself – and that feeling of accomplishment after completing something tough is incredibly satisfying.”
