Riverside Inn in Lechlade Reopens After £350,000 Refurbishment

The Riverside Inn has reopened its doors following a £350,000 refurbishment aimed at enhancing both the customer experience and the pub’s day-to-day operations.

The investment by Arkell’s Brewery has delivered a comprehensive programme of improvements throughout the popular riverside venue in Lechlade.

While many of the upgrades have taken place behind the scenes, they are designed to help the team manage busy trading periods — particularly during the summer months when visitors flock to the pub for its sought-after riverside setting.

Back-of-house works include significant improvements to the bar and cellar areas, installation of a new glass wash and bottle store, a walk-in freezer, enhancements to the kitchen preparation space and the addition of a new pizza service area opening onto the stretch tent.

Front-of-house improvements are also visible to customers. The refurbishment has increased dining capacity by 28 covers through new seating, alongside updated lighting, new furniture and a completely rebuilt bar.

Managing Director George Arkell said:

“We are delighted to have The Riverside back up and running just in time for the early sunshine, and it’s looking fantastic.

“This refurbishment has allowed us to improve the pub in ways that customers will see and enjoy, while also investing in the facilities behind the scenes that help the team deliver great service on those extremely popular summer days when people flock to The Riverside for its wonderful riverside location.

“The design and building works were carried out by Concorde BGW Ltd, and we would particularly like to thank Abigail Saroi, who has done a fantastic job on what is her first design project.”

The refurbishment followed a five-week closure and was completed in late February, with a soft opening from 21 February. The pub is now fully operational and welcoming customers in time for the early spring season.
