Ridgeway School adventurer gets backing of Richard James Estate Agents

A student at the Ridgeway School, in Wroughton, has secured sponsorship from Richard James Estate Agents to support her expedition to Kenya, where she will volunteer for rural community and conservation projects.

Millie Taphouse, whose parents sold their last home with Richard James, plans to travel to Kenya for four weeks in 2020, but needs to raise the funds to cover her costs.

“The aim of the trip is to help improve living standards for communities in an ecologically sensitive and sustainable way,” Millie said.

“I will help to deliver a number of projects supporting the local community, wildlife conservation and the environment, and see first-hand the challenges that face rural communities.”

To help her reach her target, Millie decided to offer space on her T-shirt for local firms to sponsor, and Richard James were quick to lend their support.

“We’ve known Millie’s family since we sold their last home, and we were really impressed with her courage to take on the expedition and volunteer her time to help these communities in real need,” said Ross Sutton, Director at Richard James, and manager of the Wroughton office.

“We’re a people-first business, so we like to get to know the people we’re selling for, and develop a real relationship with them.  So, when Millie approached us, we were delighted to be able to help.”

Millie is still looking for more local firms to sponsor her T-shirt, which she is planning to wear at all her fundraising events, in and around Swindon, as well as on the expedition.
