The driving force behind this initiative is none other than SSGC’s CEO, David Stubbs, a former military policeman. With a true dedication to the cause, David will take to the track, steering a BMW M3, and providing veterans with a high-octane experience. This venture stands as a testament to SSGC’s unwavering commitment to Mission Motorsport and its tireless efforts to support wounded, injured, or sick (WIS) service leavers and veterans.

Mission Motorsport’s impactful work extends beyond the thrill of speed, using sports engagement to assist those affected by military operations. The event will also feature the participation of the esteemed armed forces charity, Sporting Force. A bustling veterans village will unfold, complete with stalls and games hosted by more than 32 veterans charities, including prominent names such as SSAFA and Soldiers Charity.

This remarkable sponsorship from SSGC is an integral part of their continuous support for Mission Motorsport. With over £100,000 raised and an impressive 1,200 volunteer hours contributed, SSGC’s dedication is truly commendable. Firmly ingrained in the armed forces community, SSGC holds the distinction of being the first security firm in the country to appoint a Veteran Engagement Director, further underlining their profound commitment.

David expresses his enthusiasm for the upcoming event, saying, “It’s fantastic to be supporting Mission Motorsport at the forces family funday this year at Croft. With its proximity to Catterick Garrison we are certain this will be well attended, and it is an honour to provide some relief to forces families who all regularly make sacrifices that other families don’t have to face.

“I’ve been humbled by the number of SSGC staff who freely give up their time to volunteer at such events, and would like to extend my gratitude to Auto RARA who have prepared a wonderful BMW M3 for the day, and will be in attendance.”

Coordinated by Major (Retd) Pat Ralph MM, SSGC’s Veteran Engagement Director, this event echoes the company’s pledge to support service leavers and amplify its collaboration with Mission Motorsport.

Major Pat emphasised the significance of community support, saying, “Supporting and promoting events like this one is a big part of our pledge and we know that it can have a positive effect on the lives of veterans and their families.”

To further engage the community, SSGC will have a stand at Catterick’s Tesco superstore off Gough Road on Thursday, 17th, and Friday, 18th August. Visitors can catch a glimpse of the prepared BMW M3 and learn more about the upcoming race event on the 22nd.

As the event approaches, excitement mounts and anticipation builds. Mission Motorsport’s CEO and founder, James Cameron, echoes the sentiments of gratitude, saying, “It is when community comes together that wonderful things happen. We’re hugely grateful to David and the team for their continued support – without it, events such as these would not be possible.”

During the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic, SSGC’s remarkable efforts extended beyond the event, deploying over 5,000 staff, including many military veterans, to assist in managing testing centres across the UK on behalf of the government.
