The Red Arrows will no longer fly over Longleat this Friday after the RAF confirmed a change to its operational plans.
The flypast had been due to form part of Longleat’s Icons of the Sky event on Friday, 11 September, but the team confirmed on Monday evening that it could no longer go ahead.
Longleat said the rest of the aviation weekend would continue, with several additions now confirmed for the programme.
The RAF Tutor TMK1 will perform displays on each day of the weekend, while the Aerosuperbatics Wingwalkers will open Friday’s programme with their flying circus performance.
Other aircraft and hot air balloons will also feature throughout the weekend.
Scott Ashman, Head of Operations at Longleat, said the estate understood the need for operational changes involving RAF aircraft.
“While we’re naturally disappointed, we fully understand that operational changes take priority,” he said.
“The RAF Red Arrows informed us of the changes in circumstances last night and we hope they will be able to conduct a flypast on another occasion.”
Weather will also play a part in the flying programme, with Longleat expecting to confirm each morning whether flights are going ahead.
Visitors will be able to check the Longleat website and social media channels from around 6.45am each day for the latest information.
Despite the loss of the Red Arrows flypast, Icons of the Sky will continue as planned, with the weekend featuring a mixture of military and civilian aircraft, aerial displays and hot air balloons.
