The long-awaited opening of Prospect Hospice’s newest shop unfolded in the heart of Tadpole Garden Village on Tuesday, 14th November.
Mayor Barbara Parry, accompanied by charity nurses, elegantly snipped the ribbon just after 10 am. The event witnessed a lively gathering of supporters, committed staff, and eager volunteers.
Jeremy Lune, CEO at Prospect Hospice, expressed, “This marks an opportunity for our patient and family services to be more accessible in the community. The Tadpole shop’s prime location allows local people a better understanding of the services we offer and the support we can provide.”
At the Tadpole boutique charity shop, shoppers can explore an outstanding array of new goods, pre-owned treasures, and vintage finds. From fashionable attire to distinctive home decor, the latest addition to the Prospect Hospice family offers a carefully curated collection that rivals any high-end retailer.
One delighted customer, Clare Harris, among the first supporters through the door, shared her enthusiasm. “The shop looks amazing and will be a great addition to Tadpole,” Clare exclaimed. “There’s a fantastic variety of high-quality items. I managed to find some Christmas gifts for my family and even treated myself to a couple of books.”
Victoria Canavan, head of retail at Prospect Hospice, expressed her excitement about the shop’s opening. “We’re really excited about this shop opening. We pride ourselves on being more than a charity shop. We aim to create hubs for the community where people can stop by for a chat. We have a great team of volunteers to help run the shop, but we’d love to welcome more. Volunteering is a brilliant way to meet new people and learn new skills.”
Prospect Hospice extends an invitation to everyone to explore the new shop, encouraging the joy of giving back while discovering unique treasures.
The shop happily accepts good-quality donations during opening hours, with staff and volunteers available to assist. The charity also offers free furniture collections for those with large household items to contribute.
You can locate the new shop at Unit 2 Maizey Road, Tadpole Garden Village, Swindon, SN25 2WF, and its opening hours are Monday to Saturday 9.30 am to 5 pm, Sunday 10 am to 4 pm.
