Prospect Hospice Thanks Community After Christmas Tree Collection Raises Over £32,000

A popular post-Christmas tradition has once again delivered an impressive boost for end-of-life care in Swindon, with Prospect Hospice celebrating the success of its annual Christmas Tree Collection.

Over three days, from January 9 to 11, hospice staff and volunteers collected 1,593 real Christmas trees from homes across the town, raising a total of £32,132.38 to support the charity’s services.

The scheme, run in partnership with Just Helping, saw hundreds of local households book a tree collection rather than sending them to landfill. The operation relied heavily on volunteers and the backing of local businesses, whose vehicles, time and practical support helped ensure collections ran smoothly across the weekend.

Ben Lee, Head of Relationship Fundraising at Prospect Hospice, said the scale of support from the community had been remarkable.

“We’ve been truly overwhelmed by the response from local people,” he said. “Every tree collected and every donation made will make a genuine difference, helping us provide comfort, dignity and compassionate care to patients and their families when they need it most.

“This simply wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our volunteers and the support of local businesses who give their time, vehicles and expertise so generously.”

The funds raised will help Prospect Hospice continue delivering specialist palliative and end-of-life care, both at its hospice and in patients’ homes, supporting individuals and families during some of the most difficult times they will face.

The charity has thanked everyone involved in the initiative, from residents who booked collections, to volunteers working through winter conditions, and businesses supporting the effort behind the scenes.
